The payment stuff has been totally fine on my end. I made my payments, they went through like they were supposed to, and the transactions showed up without me having to chase anything down or wonder what was going on. I got the confirmations too, which always makes me feel better because I’m the kind of person who checks just to make sure nothing got stuck somewhere. No weird delays, no random issues, nothing dramatic. It’s not like there’s anything flashy to talk about, but that’s kind of the point for payments, right? I just want it to work, and so far it has. The setup took way longer than I expected. My ID kept getting rejected, and after a couple tries I just started assuming it was going to fail every time, like there was some weird pattern I wasn’t catching. Frustrating experience overall

I appreciated how clearly everything was explained, especially the risks and the checks involved. It felt straightforward and helpful, which I think is really important when you’re trying to make a smart decision

I invested through StartEngine, the communication afterward has not been great!!! Updates either come really slowly, feel super vague, or just don’t show up unless you go digging around for them yourself!!!

It kind of feels like once they have your money, you’re left trying to figure things out on your own!!! I totally understand that startups are risky, but basic investor updates really shouldn’t be this hard to follow!!!

I’ve used StartEngine a handful of times, mostly to browse and see what kinds of companies are out there. There’s a nice variety, with startups in tech, food, sustainability, and a bunch of other areas. Not every listing grabs my attention, but I do like that there’s usually something new to look through.
I’d probably give it 4 stars because some of the company pages feel a little light on details, so I usually end up doing extra research on my own. That said, if you’re curious about private companies you might not come across elsewhere, it’s worth checking out.

Overall, the site is easy enough to figure out. I mean, you can get around without much trouble if you have a little common sense, but some pages do take longer to load than they should. A few details also feel kind of spread out, so it would be nicer if the info was organized a bit more clearly.

startengine was fine overall, but reading between the lines, I probably should’ve paid closer attention to the extra costs. The fees aren’t outrageous or anything, they just added up more than I expected. I wish the total was laid out more clearly earlier on, before you’re already far into the process.

Getting help from support was a mess. These guys took days to reply, and when they finally did, the answers were barely helpful and didn’t actually fix my problem. Felt like I was going in circles with a bunch of amateurs.
